A while ago, we started delving into the finer things in life beyond orthodontics. Many of you told us that they enjoyed the article about South Africa and picked up a couple great new wines but wondered about the connection to and placement in ProOrtho. We were hoping you’d ask!
We’d like to answer your questions with a couple questions of our own: Why did you study so hard in college and in dental school to make it into ortho? Why did you risk life and limb to open or buy a practice? Why did you borrow all that money? Why do you put up with the rigors of owning a business, dealing with employee issues and paying Uncle Sam? We don’t think those are the things you were looking forward to or that you wrote on your application to dental school when they asked “Why Dentistry?” We KNOW you want to help people and you do that as an orthodontist; but you could help many more by becoming a fireman, policeman or Peace Corps volunteer!
Admit it! You wanted what we all wanted – THE LIFESTYLE!
It’s good to do good while doing good so there is no shame in being an excellent orthodontist, taking care of your patients like family, helping people get the great smiles they want AND making a great living. You now have the time and the money to experience life in the way you dreamed it could be (or you will soon if you apply what you learn in ProOrtho!) We applaud you! You’ve earned it and that is why we are including various “pleasant distractions” in each issue of ProOrtho Magazine. We have great readers who are excellent orthodontists and sophisticated travelers so we invite you to enjoy this section and send us your story with photos of an incredible experience you’ve had.
Carpe diem!
